Dad’s paid parental leave access upheld

An IEU teacher member whose application for paid parental leave was initially rejected was able to access the leave after our union intervened to assist.

The employer denied the application, believing the member was ineligible for employer paid parental leave under the collective agreement, because the member had been employed at the school for less than 12 months prior to the birth of his child.
