IEU members working in Brisbane, Cairns and Toowoomba Catholic schools or Queensland Anglican schools are eligible to participate in a fortnight-long exchange to Alberta, Canada.
IEU members employed within single site schools are eligible to participate with the approval of their employer.
The Alberta Teachers Association short-term exchanges permit an exploration of themes and areas of interest and have led to many exciting school-based cooperations and projects.
There is no visa or teaching authority requirements for short-term job shadowing.
Exchanges will occur over breaks and holidays that stagger with the host country’s school schedule.
Participants cover all travel and living expenses.
Each participant will billet their exchange partner for the two (2) week short-term exchange period.
Australian teachers will host the Canadian short-term exchange teacher mid-year and be able to job shadow in Alberta in either the Australian September or December school holidays.
Alberta has many exciting and innovative programs related to indigenous populations.
Teachers may choose, for example, to investigate how systems are narrowing the education achievement gap and engaging indigenous students in their learning at school.
Short-term exchange participants will be matched through shared or similar areas of interest and professional experience.
