IEU assistance overturns allegation against teacher

26 May, 2026

Our union has assisted a teacher member in clearing their name and maintaining employment after accusations of inappropriate physical contact with students, which were found to be unsubstantiated.

IEU-QNT Industrial Services Officer Byron Dettl said the teacher who was employed in a leadership position approached our union for assistance after the employer raised allegations of inappropriate contact with students, which the member categorically denied.

“The member sensibly notified our union promptly which allowed us to provide support and advice throughout the entire process,” Byron said.
