Stop, think and seek advice before signing

A troubling incident where staff were recently directed by their employer to sign a broad declaration that they had not engaged in “misconduct”, with no explanation for the request, is a timely reminder to pause and think before signing any legal documents.

During late Term 1, concerned IEU-QNT members working for Townsville Catholic Education contacted our union for advice after being told by the employer they must sign the statement, which contained several “impermissibly broad” declarations within.
