Navigating performance management processes

22 April, 2026

Having your work performance called into question is never easy, but it is important to remember you have rights throughout the performance management process.

IEU-QNT Industrial Officer Mark Moorhead said a performance management process (sometimes known as a performance improvement plan or PIP) is a process to address deficiencies in an employee’s work performance or conduct.

“The intention of performance management processes should be to improve a member’s performance and not to force an employee out of their position,” Mark said.
