Member win on parental leave provisions

6 February, 2024

IEU members at Mancel College have welcomed a new collective agreement offering improved paid parental leave provisions, including paid superannuation on unpaid leave (up to 12 months).

Located in the Brisbane suburb of Fig Tree Pocket, Mancel College is a specialist Prep to Year 12 school for students with language disorder.

IEU Organiser Susan O’Leary said the new collective agreement negotiated by our union offered 16 weeks of paid parental leave for employees who have completed four (4) years of service, and 14 weeks otherwise.

“This is another very welcome initiative to support employees who take parental leave – this is certainly a provision that other schools should seek to replicate,” she said.

“Employees will also receive paid superannuation on the unpaid parental leave component, inside the first 12 months of parental leave,” Susan said.
