Ipswich Girls Grammar seeks to silence employees’ voice

2 May, 2024

Ipswich Girls Grammar School (IGGS) is seeking to force through an employer agreement already rejected by employees while staff are voting on whether to take protected industrial action.

The employer agreement, as it stands, fails to address key employee issues, including wages and leave entitlements.

IEU-QNT organiser Andrew Elphinstone said the employer’s move to take the rejected document to the ballot again while employees are voting on protected action clearly showed their desire to silence employees.

“Instead of listening, the employer is taking the already rejected agreement again – with all of the time and costs associated with that,” he said.

“It is clear the employer is not interested in the concerns of their staff,” Andrew said.
