AI influence leads to new academic integrity course

10 March, 2026

This year’s cohort of Queensland Year 12 students will be the first to complete a mandatory academic integrity course – as schools grapple with the impacts of generative artificial intelligence (AI).

New requirements

The new academic integrity course requirement for students completing a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) was announced by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) late last year.

Students can meet the requirement through completion of one of three options:

  • the QCAA academic integrity course for senior secondary students (online format);
  • the QCAA academic integrity course for senior secondary students (alternative format); or
  • an equivalent academic integrity course.
