Australia’s Education Ministers have endorsed the concept of a national Early Education Commission to strengthen safety in child care.
It is one of several recommendations outlined in a 2024 inquiry report from the federal Productivity Commission exploring a path to universal early childhood education and care (ECEC).
While the commission is currently in the consultation phase, the federal Department of Education says it could provide analysis and insights to support workforce development.
There is currently no single body in charge of providing a holistic sector view to decision–makers and providers.
