Voice of the profession included in review of new commission

29 May, 2026

Teachers’ voice through their unions will be heard in review of proposed central education authority.

Last November, federal Education Minister Jason Clare announced plans to establish the Teaching and Learning Commission (TLC).

The proposal would see The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL), The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) and Education Services Australia (ESA) consolidated under one central body.

In last month’s budget, the government announced $5.6 million to undertake work on the proposal to establish the TLC.
