Important reform gives grieving parents security

In November last year, an important reform passed in federal Parliament prohibiting employers from cancelling or refusing employer-funded paid parental leave if an employee’s child is stillborn or dies shortly after birth. 

Baby Priya’s Law was driven by union campaigning after a member of the Australian Services Union (ASU) NSW/ACT Branch had her paid parental leave (PPL) cancelled when her prematurely born daughter tragically passed away at 6 weeks old.
