Reforms urgently needed to boost women’s super balances

14 October, 2025

Unions are calling for further reforms to close the gender super gap, to prevent large numbers of women entering retirement without enough superannuation for their economic security.

A new report issued by the Super Members Council shows women retire with 25 per cent less super than men and are 10 per cent more likely than men to have no super whatsoever by the end of their working lives.

Forty (40) per cent of single retired women experience economic insecurity.
