IEU wins reclassification and back pay after employer error

1 April, 2025

Our union’s support has resulted in a school officer being reclassified and receiving back pay after their employer wrongfully lowered the classification level of their role.

The school officer member employed in a Queensland Catholic school contacted our union for advice after switching from part-time to a casual employment status.

Industrial Services Officer Michael Nelson said our member was concerned because as part of the transition from part-time to casual relief work, the employer had unilaterally lowered their classification level by an entire level.
