IEU members employed at Ipswich Girls Grammar School (IGGS) and Ipswich Junior Grammar School (IJGS) have demonstrated the difference collective action and solidarity make.

An overwhelming 95 per cent of IGGS/IJGS employees recently voted to accept a proposed replacement agreement at ballot, after in-principle agreement was finally reached between our union and the employer.

Organiser Andrew Elphinstone said the successful ballot followed a lengthy campaign which involved IEU members taking the first instance of protected industrial action by staff since the school opened in 1892.
