Australian unions have welcomed the Labor federal government’s action to expand access to Paid Parental Leave to 26 weeks for workers and allow it to be more flexibly shared between new parents.
Last week the Senate passed the Paid Parental Leave Amendment (Improvements for Families and Gender Equality) Bill 2022 which will support women’s workforce participation and assist more fathers and partners to access time off work to spend with their children.
