Written warning withdrawn, performance management plan discontinued after IEU intervention

4 August, 2026

Our union’s support of a member has resulted in their employer withdrawing a formal written warning and a deficient performance improvement plan (PIP) being discontinued after we raised concerns regarding the need for and deployment of a performance management process.

IEU-QNT Industrial Services Officer Michael Nelson said the teacher contacted us for advice and support after having been both placed on a PIP for alleged underperformance in their role and subsequently issued a written warning by the employer for failing to improve their performance.

“After being contacted by the member and reviewing details of the situation, it became clear that the performance process undertaken in relation to the member was entirely flawed from the beginning,” Michael said.
