Reclassification win after job ad sparks questions

6 November, 2025

An IEU school officer member has successfully been reclassified after their employer advertised the same job at higher pay rates.

The member who works for a large employing authority said they initially believed their position was wrongly classified after speaking with other staff in similar roles at the school.

“I also noticed the employer had placed advertisements online seeking applicants for jobs that reflected my role, yet the salary advertised was at a higher rate,” they said.

The member noted the details, including dates and site locations, to be used as supporting evidence in their case for reclassification.
