$8,000 backpaid to member after classification error

12 August, 2025

An IEU member received $8,000 in backpay after our union prevailed in a classification dispute in the magistrate’s court.

The member was employed as a casual teacher during term-time at a special assistance school when they later realised they had been appointed at an incorrect classification level.

Our union’s industrial team supported the member in addressing the classification issue.
