The newly elected LNP government have wasted no time undermining the safety of Queensland workers, having used their first day in Parliament to repeal hard-won workplace health and safety laws and rush through dangerous legislation without committee scrutiny.
IEU-QNT Branch Secretary Terry Burke condemned the LNP decision to rush through the passing of draconian laws that would strip away Queensland employees’ right to safe and healthy workplaces.
“This is appalling decision characteristic of a government which does not have the best interests of workers at heart,” Mr Burke said.
“It shows a level of contempt and ultimately disrespect to Queensland’s workers and their families, jeopardising their safety at work,” he said.
