An IEU member’s initiative and action at their kindergarten has solved a significant COVID-19 Work Health and Safety (WHS) issue.
The Brisbane-based member realised that during the first few weeks of kindergarten returning this year, despite some COVID-19 safety restrictions still in place, kindergarten staff would not be able to socially distance from the children during their lunchtime.
This meant a significant issue for staff due to the current mask regulations in place for the children and workers’ safety.
Either they would have to choose to socially distance to be able to eat themselves or forfeit eating until the end of the day during their paid break.
