University of Technology Sydney’s (UTS) plan to slash 400 jobs and freeze student intake for more than 100 courses has been condemned by education unions across Australia.
The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) said UTS had pushed forward with the job cuts despite being provided viable alternatives based on “expert analysis”.
“In pushing ahead with their disastrous restructure plans, UTS management once again underestimated the serious and damaging impacts their choices have on staff and the community,” NTEU NSW Division Secretary Vince Caughley said.
