While Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has the potential to reduce some administrative tasks, there is also the possibility of adverse impacts on staff which need to be identified and carefully managed.
IEU-QNT Branch Secretary Terry Burke said at the state and territory level, our union was advocating that school employers must take every opportunity to work with our union and our members to develop shared responses to workload and safety concerns arising from the new technology.
Paid time and consultation critical
“Any additional staff training or professional development needed to implement new technology or manage GenAI must be done in paid time,” Mr Burke said.
