IEU voice heard in Anti-Bullying Rapid Review

8 August, 2025

Workload impacts just one key issue highlighted by our union as part of the federal government’s Anti-Bullying Rapid Review.

The IEU has previously made a federal submission to the review, which aims to establish national standards to address bullying.

IEU-QNT Research Officer Adele Schmidt and several IEU-QNT Education Committee members recently participated in Queensland-based discussions alongside other key stakeholders, providing additional input into the review.

Teacher workload pressures must be part of the conversation

Adele said our union agreed with many stakeholders involved in the talks that new anti-bullying policies stemming from the review needed to be “proactive and pre-emptive”.

“What is frustrating for our members is that they already know what improvements need to be made to better address bullying, yet appropriate resourcing remains a perennial challenge,” she said.
