In 2025, the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB) released a new Guideline for educational programs for Queensland’s non-State schools.

While this document enhances flexibility for schools in terms of the educational program they offer to students, Specialist Teacher members have reported that some employers are using the new guidelines as justification for the cessation or reduction of specialist Language, Arts and Music programs, resulting in loss of hours, or complete loss of employment for Specialist Teachers.

This session presents results of our IEU-QNT member survey to gather data on the extent of the problem. Attendees will be given an overview of survey results and a chance to discuss how the survey results will be used in dialogue with employers.
