Workers’ mental health suffering due to occupational violence

26 November, 2025

Australian workers are experiencing unacceptably high levels of burnout, stress, and overwork, according to new data from the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU).

Results from the latest Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Work Shouldn’t Hurt Survey revealed one in five workers sustained a mental health injury in the 2024 – 2025 period.

The report emphasised widespread work-related psychosocial injury rates including those caused by a spike in violence, aggression and discrimination in the workplace.
