The final report into Initial Teacher Education (ITE) is one characterised by a fundamental failure to understand the profession or recognise that ITE depends upon access to schools and supervising teachers, according to IEU-QNT Branch Secretary Terry Burke.

Mr Burke said that instead of listening to the voice of the profession, a panel of politically appointed “experts” had produced a report that failed to understand the nature of teaching, the associated workload demands of ITE for supervising teachers and shamefully put the future of the profession at risk.
