The vital role school support staff play in non-government schools will be honoured and celebrated as part of School Officer Day celebrations held on Wednesday, 12 June.
IEU-QNT Assistant Secretary Nicole Kapernick said that school officers had been an essential part of our union for over thirty years.
“Since school officers became members of our union in the late 1980s, our union has continued to campaign for the professional respect and recognition required to properly acknowledge their role in our schools,” Nicole said.
“Our union has won substantial improvements in working conditions and wages since the inception of the inaugural School Officer Award in the 1990s.
Nicole said our schools simply couldn’t function without support staff.
