Unions win historic first for early childhood sector

5 October, 2023

Thousands of Australian early childhood teachers employed by long day care centres and other service providers are set for better wages and working conditions after a joint union application to the Fair Work Commission (FWC) was approved.

Our federal union, the IEUA, the United Workers Union (UWU) and the Australian Education Union (AEU) made the joint application.

IEU-QNT Branch Secretary Terry Burke said the granting of the supported bargaining application within the multi-employer bargaining stream was a ground-breaking achievement by union members.
