Traffic lights signal ‘Stop-Go’ on AI

Our union and the Queensland Teachers’ Union (QTU) have jointly published materials to advise and assist members in using artificial intelligence (AI) in schools.

IEU-QNT Research Officer Dr Adele Schmidt said the AI Decision-Making Framework and Discussion Points were crucial documents.

“The resources were developed as a collaborative project with the QTU following our participation in various forums seeking to respond to the impact of AI in education settings,” Dr Schmidt said.

“They encourage members to think deeply about the various opportunities and ramifications of using AI in an educational context.

“It was clear from those forums that while there was a lot of focus on things like changing the content of academic courses and assessment guidebooks, the broader and more foundational significance of these technological changes also requires attention.
