Queensland Catholic teachers allowed back pay despite resignation

14 November, 2023

A full bench of Federal Court judges has ruled two Queensland Catholic school teachers are entitled to pay rises secured by new collective agreements despite the employees resigning before the replacement agreements took effect.

IEU-QNT Branch Secretary Terry Burke said a full bench overturned an initial decision that found in favour of the employers.

“This decision is significant and has wide implications for not just our members but all workers around Australia,” Mr Burke said.
