Our union has advocated for a focus on protecting school communities from online abuse as part of our joint submission with the Queensland Teachers’ Union to the Department of Education’s Review of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006.
We have also called for the review to focus on the sharing of child safety information and mandatory reporting obligations.
While the Act primarily applies to the government sector, the three above aspects either directly apply to the non-government sector or could set a precedent that might reasonably be extended to our sector.
