Privacy concerns as cameras installed in staffrooms

An increasing number of members have raised privacy concerns after their employers have attempted to install video and/or audio surveillance cameras in workplace spaces such as staffrooms.

IEU Industrial Officer Jill McKeon said members were rightly concerned by attempts to install surveillance, particularly where it occurs without the appropriate consultation.

“It is becoming sadly common for employers to install surveillance cameras on their premises for security purposes,” Jill said.
