Outstanding members celebrated for making a difference

Our union’s annual Member Awards were presented to recipients at the 2022 IEU-QNT AGM, recognising the contributions of some of our most outstanding activists.

John (Max) MacDermott Union Activist Award

John (Max) MacDermott was a respected teacher at Mercy College, Mackay. This award honours his outstanding contribution as a strong advocate and union activist for employee rights and working conditions.

Brett Gillett – Marist College Ashgrove (Individual Award)

For Brett, teaching and unionism are inseparable and this is evidenced through deep-seated professional and personal values of inclusivity and justice. He is a strong and consistent advocate for those who need the strength of the collective.

Djarragun College (Chapter Award)

The Djarragun College Chapter Executive have worked diligently and tirelessly with members to address many issues and concerns throughout 2022. Their proactive approach has won the respect and confidence of members and staff at the college.
