Draft guidelines for the induction of early career teachers and new school leaders have been released by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
The release of the respective guidelines fulfills key action 14 of the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan approved by Education Ministers last year.
The 2022 Action Plan said developing “national guidelines to support early career teachers and new school leaders including mentoring and induction” was essential to improving teacher retention.
The resulting Early Career Teacher Guidelines and New School Leader Guidelines were released for consultation from 17 July – 11 August, with AITSL to provide further updates in the wake of feedback from across the profession.
