IEU members have a place at the table along with other key on the implementation of the new national curriculum within Queensland.
IEU-QNT Research Officer Dr Adele Schmidt, who is representing our union on the implementation working group, said the Queensland Education Minister Grace Grace had decided Queensland schools will continue with the current approach of implementing the Australian Curriculum ‘as written’ from 2024.
“This means Queensland will not create a state-specific version of the curriculum or syllabuses.
“The Minister has indicated schools will be supported to commence implementation of the new curriculum (Version 9) from the start of 2024, to be completely implemented by 2026,” she said.
