Looking for professional development with a difference?

25 July, 2022
Applications are now open for full-time or part-time teachers, middle leaders and principals to participate in a short-term virtual exchange paired with teachers from either Alberta (Canada) or Colorado (USA).

The e-exchange program is a unique opportunity for professional development as well as a chance to compare and contrast aspects of educational delivery between different systems.

Matches will be made based on common interest areas and specialties.

The exchange will last six weeks, beginning 24 October 2022 and participants will complete a small joint project together.

Alberta teachers already on-board

A number of Alberta teachers have already started the application process including Andrew and Hayley (bios below)

Andrew is a Vice Principal and has been teaching for 17 years, six of which have been in his current role. He has taught in the middle school level for 10 years and was seconded to the University of Lethbridge Faculty of Education for one year as a sessional instructor for education students. Andrew has a Masters of Education degree in School Leadership and Administration. He has a keen interest in the ‘maker movement’ and really enjoys learning more in his spare time about electronics and woodworking.

Hayley is a high school special education teacher. In 2019 Hayley completed a Masters in Education in Special Education with an emphasis on autism. She has a special interest in students with diverse learning needs, especially those on the autism spectrum.  Hayley also volunteers with Special Olympics Red Deer as the head coach of the swim program.
