Australia’s perilously delayed COVID-19 vaccine rollout is placing significant pressure on schools and the wellbeing of students and staff.

Our union believes all employees deserve access to paid leave for COVID-19 vaccination as part of a shared commitment to keeping our community safe.

IEU-QNT Branch Secretary Terry Burke said access to the COVID-19 vaccine was a critical safety measure against emerging variants of COVID-19 transmitting in schools.

“School staff have at all times met the challenges of this pandemic with professionalism and commitment,” Mr Burke said.

“Clear evidence has emerged interstate and overseas that the Delta variant is more transmissible, particularly among children,” Mr Burke said.
