Nick Byway – a long-time IEU member and Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHSO) at Mt Maria College Petrie – a has won the inaugural TUH Award for Excellence in Safety and Wellbeing at the Brisbane Catholic Education Excellence Awards this year.
The Award recognised Nick’s dedication and passion of ensuring the highest standards of workplace health and safety for his whole school community.
Nick said it was an honour to receive the Award in recognition of his work but that it’s also a testament to a team effort between staff, students, parents, and his school leadership team.
What is a WHSO?
WHSOs are appointed by the employer to advise and undertake work to meet the employer’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Act.
