Hours of Duty – does my new timetable meet industrial requirements?

With the new year approaching, new timetables are being organised and set in every school, so it’s important to know your rights when it comes to Hours of Duty.

Most of our members work under a collective agreement which offers much greater benefits than the Award, when it comes to directed Hours of Duty.

Knowing the Hours of Duty set out in your collective agreement is the first step to ensuring your time is not being taken advantage of and in setting boundaries for work-life balance.

The time demands on teachers is ever increasing, from administration and data collection tasks through to the extra pressure of having to provide detailed feedback on multiple assignment drafts to students.
