Federal government failure to make workplaces safer condemned

In the wake of the federal government’s recent failure to properly respond to the Sex Discrimination Commissioner’s Repect@Work report, the union movement has joined with gender equality advocates across Australia to make four clear demands for what should be done immediately to make workplaces safer.

In its response to Respect@Work, the Federal Government has failed to provide proper protections for women at work, with no new rights for people experiencing sexual violence and harassment and no further responsibility on employers to ensure a safe workplace and prevent sexual violence and harassment.
