Ensuring viable career pathways for First Nations education workers

27 November, 2023

Our union’s campaign to Close the Industrial Gap continues through our advocacy to teacher registration authorities and other stakeholders regarding the urgent need to ensure viable career pathways for First Nations education workers.

A significant feature of the current IEU-QNT Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is our commitment to Closing the Industrial Gap through our First Nations Education Workers project, which aims to establish just and fair benchmarks for the employment of language and culture educators.

First Languages Australia (FLA), the peak body committed to ensuring the future strength of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages, has worked closely with the IEU and other stakeholders to develop a suite of Industrial Guidelines suitable for employees delivering First Nations language and culture programs in schools.
