NT boarding school employer disputes backpay

22 February, 2022

Northern Territory Catholic school members remain locked in a dispute with their employer who has failed to pay staff their public holidays loadings for many years.

IEU members employed as boarding school staff at St John’s Catholic School (Darwin) contacted our union for advice in relation to claims they were owed several varieties of backpay.

Organiser Jengis Osman said our union took action by raising the issue with the Fair Work Commission (FWC) before the employer conceded to backpay the public holiday loadings.
